Rare Japanese Buddhist Vajra Staff Tokkosho Ritual Artifact w/Silk
Rare 1960s Japanese Buddhist Vajra Staff (Tokkosho / Kongōsho) – Ritual Artifact with Original Silk Cover
Please read the full description before purchasing.
This exceptionally rare Japanese Buddhist Vajra staff (Tokkosho / Kongōsho) dates to the 1960s and was acquired directly from a Japanese Government Antique Auction. Used in traditional esoteric Buddhist practices, this sacred ritual object carries deep spiritual significance and represents centuries of Japanese religious tradition.
The Vajra, known in Japanese as Kongōsho, symbolizes the indestructible truth of enlightenment, spiritual strength, and the union of wisdom and compassion. Ritual implements of this type are traditionally associated with the Shingon and Tendai Buddhist schools, where they are used during ceremonies, meditation, chanting, and temple rituals.
This beautiful example features a traditional multi-ring bronze vajra head with naturally aged patina developed over decades. The wooden handle displays a rich warm tone and authentic age-related character, reflecting years of careful preservation.
Adding to its rarity, the piece includes its original silk storage cover featuring elegant traditional Japanese brocade patterns. A custom handmade wooden presentation box, crafted by me from aged reclaimed wood and personally signed, is also included as a complimentary gift to provide safe storage and display.
This is not a reproduction or decorative replica. It is a genuine vintage Buddhist ritual object with historical, spiritual, and collectible value.
Whether displayed in a meditation room, Buddhist altar, Japanese art collection, or as a conversation piece, this rare artifact offers a tangible connection to Japan's spiritual heritage.

🏯 About the Vajra (Kongōsho)
The Vajra, known as Kongōsho in Japan, is one of the most important ritual objects in Esoteric Buddhism.
The word "vajra" is often translated as "diamond" or "thunderbolt," symbolizing something both indestructible and powerful. Within Buddhist traditions, it represents spiritual awakening, wisdom, compassion, and the unshakable truth of enlightenment.
For centuries, Vajra implements have been used by monks during ceremonial chanting, meditation, prayer rituals, and sacred temple practices. Authentic vintage examples are becoming increasingly difficult to find outside Japan, particularly those that remain complete with their original coverings.
