Please read the full description before purchasing.

This rare and authentic Japanese bamboo carving tool from the 1980s is a handcrafted artisan blade traditionally used for fine bamboo carving and detailed woodworking. The tool was acquired from a Japanese Government Antique Auction, ensuring its authenticity and historical provenance.

The blade is hand-forged steel and signed by the craftsman “Rauma”, representing the long tradition of Japanese blade-making where tools were produced individually by skilled artisans rather than mass manufactured.

Japanese bamboo carving knives like this were commonly used by craftsmen creating bamboo baskets, decorative carvings, tea ceremony utensils, and traditional crafts. The compact design allows for extremely precise cuts and controlled carving, making it both a functional tool and a beautiful collectible.

The knife comes with its original wooden saya (protective scabbard), preserving the blade when not in use. Additionally, this piece includes a custom handmade wooden presentation box, crafted by me from aged reclaimed wood and signed, providing a unique display and storage solution.

The blade shows natural aging and light patina, which is consistent with its vintage character and adds to the authentic wabi-sabi aesthetic valued in traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
