An extraordinary museum-grade Japanese Samurai doll (武者人形 / Musha Ningyo) dating to the 1950s Showa period, custom commissioned as a luxury heirloom in post-war Japan and preserved for more than seventy years in its original glass display case.

This exceptional one-of-a-kind piece represents the highest level of mid-century Japanese artisan craftsmanship. Unlike mass-produced Boys’ Day displays, this Samurai doll was created as a private custom commission, made for a distinguished Japanese family and preserved by the original owner’s descendants until its recent acquisition.

I personally acquired this masterpiece directly from the daughter of the original owner, who confirmed that her late father commissioned this doll as a luxury piece during post-war Japan.

The original wooden storage box features the family 家紋 (Kamon / clan crest), offering remarkable provenance and reinforcing the piece’s noble heritage.

The Samurai wears full traditional 鎧 (Yoroi) armor, meticulously crafted using premium materials including kimono silk, brass, leather, ceramic, and carved wood. The warrior’s face is finished with stunning 24-karat gold detailing, creating a calm, dignified, and commanding expression.

Every detail—from the hand-tied armor cords to the elaborate helmet crest, hand-worked metal fittings, textile layering, and artist signature—reflects the exceptional skill of master Japanese craftsmen during the golden era of post-war decorative arts.

This is not simply a collectible. It is a documented family heirloom, cultural artifact, and investment-grade example of Japanese Samurai artistry.

Ideal for advanced collectors, museums, galleries, cultural institutions, luxury interiors, or serious investors in rare Asian art.
