🌿 About Wajima-nuri Lacquerware
Wajima-nuri is renowned for its strength and longevity. Artisans mix local
diatomaceous earth (jinoko) into the base layers and often reinforce rims with
cloth (nunokise), creating lacquerware that resists impact and wear.

The production involves over 100 individual steps, carried out by specialized
craftsmen, and can take up to a year to complete a single piece. Because of this,
Wajima-nuri items are considered both functional objects and collectible works of art,
often passed down through generations and repairable if damaged.
