This authentic 1960s Japanese Kanna (鉋) hand plane is a beautiful example of traditional Japanese woodworking craftsmanship. Sourced directly from a Japanese government auction, this piece carries both authenticity and historical value.
Unlike Western planes that are pushed forward, the Japanese Kanna is designed to be pulled toward the user, allowing for greater control, cleaner cuts, and a smoother surface finish. This pull-style technique has been perfected over centuries by Japanese carpenters.
The body is crafted from solid wood (commonly Japanese oak), paired with a high-carbon steel blade forged for durability and precision. The blade shows honest age and character, while the wooden body has been carefully oiled and clear-coated to preserve and protect it.
Whether you are a woodworker, collector of traditional tools, or admirer of Japanese craftsmanship, this Kanna makes a functional and display-worthy addition to any workshop or collection.
