Jurōjin is traditionally associated with longevity, wisdom, and good fortune, and is often portrayed as a smiling elderly figure with a long beard. This sculpture is a pure decorative okimono (置物) and NOT an incense box or tea utensil.

Bizen ware is one of Japan’s oldest ceramic traditions, known for its unglazed natural clay, wood-fired kiln marks, and earthy patina developed over time. The warm surface tones and subtle firing variations seen here are hallmarks of authentic Bizen pottery.
