This is an authentic Japanese antique Jurojin statue, handcrafted in Bizen ware pottery during the 1940s (early Showa period) and signed by the maker. The piece was sourced directly from a Japanese Government Auction, ensuring authenticity and collectible provenance.

Jurojin (寿老人) is one of Japan’s Seven Lucky Gods (Shichifukujin) and is revered as the deity of longevity, wisdom, and peaceful life. He is traditionally depicted as an elderly sage, often associated with a scroll symbolizing knowledge and long life.

Bizen ware (備前焼) is one of Japan’s oldest and most respected ceramic traditions, known for its unglazed surfaces, natural earth tones, and wood-fired kiln marks. The subtle variations in color, texture, and firing effects on this statue are hallmarks of genuine Bizen craftsmanship.

This statue displays a beautiful aged surface with strong presence and quiet spiritual character, making it ideal for collectors of Japanese pottery, Buddhist folk art, or Shichifukujin figures.
