Japanese Antique Lucky Hammer Uchide no Kozuchi 5 Yen Coins Folk Art
Japanese Antique Lucky Hammer Uchide no Kozuchi 5 Yen Coins Folk Art
An extremely rare Japanese “Uchide no Kozuchi” (打出の小槌) — the Lucky Hammer of fortune — beautifully crafted in Japan during the 1950s from authentic 5-yen coins (五円玉).
This symbol is associated with Daikokuten, the Japanese god of wealth, and is believed to bring good fortune, success, and prosperity when displayed at home or in business.
The piece features intricate woven cordwork in gold, orange, and red silk over the coin structure, symbolizing luck and abundance. Each 5-yen coin was carefully aligned and bound by hand, forming a mallet shape that represents wealth striking one’s destiny.
Acquired directly from a Japan Government Auction, this one-of-a-kind folk art creation embodies the spirit of postwar craftsmanship — where creativity met reverence for cultural symbolism.
