🥁 Extremely Rare 1950s Kitakyushu Gion Festival Taiko Drum

This is an authentic and very large Japanese Kitakyushu Gion Festival Taiko drum from the 1950s, traditionally used during the famous Gion Matsuri festival held every July in Kitakyushu, Japan.

Handcrafted using a bamboo/wood body and natural leather drumhead, this piece carries the powerful spirit of Japanese summer festivals. Large and heavy, it has an impressive ceremonial presence and produces a deep, resonant sound.

Sourced from a Japanese government antique auction, this is a genuine vintage collector’s piece with strong historical and cultural value.

Please note: The leather drumhead had several holes due to age. These areas were carefully repaired in the past. The drum remains playable and produces a beautiful sound, but due to its age, I personally recommend gentle use. This is being sold primarily as a historic Japanese festival artifact and collectible.
