This is an authentic Japanese vintage Kiji (pheasant) incense burner, also known as a koro (香炉), dating to the mid–late Showa era (circa 1940s–1970s). Beautifully sculpted in the form of a pheasant — Japan’s national bird — this piece represents traditional Japanese symbolism, craftsmanship, and wabi-sabi aesthetics.

The burner features a removable circular lid discreetly placed on the bird’s back, allowing incense to be placed inside the hollow body. When lit, fragrant smoke gently escapes, enhancing the serene presence of the sculpture.

Crafted from cast iron or bronze, possibly associated with Takaoka metalware, the surface shows a rich green-bronze patina developed over time. These pieces were often produced as decorative art objects rather than mass-market items, making original examples increasingly collectible today.

Perfect for incense use, Japanese interior décor, or as a sculptural art display.
