1950s Wajima Nuri Lacquer Soup Bowls Set Signed Box Maki-e Bamboo Fern
An exceptionally rare set of authentic Japanese vintage Wajima-nuri owan soup bowls dating to the 1950s Showa period, sourced directly from a Japanese Government Auction.
This refined set includes 10 original lidded bowls housed in their original signed wooden tomobako, making it a museum-level collectible. Each bowl is coated in deep black lacquer and finished with hand-applied maki-e gold and green bamboo / fern leaf motifs, symbolizing longevity, resilience, and harmony with nature.
Wajima-nuri lacquerware has been produced in Ishikawa Prefecture for over 400 years and is considered the highest standard of Japanese lacquer craftsmanship. These bowls were made using traditional layered techniques to ensure exceptional durability, water resistance, and brilliant gloss.
Perfect for refined Japanese dining, tea ceremony presentation, or as a rare display piece for serious collectors.
