This Japanese antique 1930s bronze Kannon (Guanyin) statue is a rare and spiritually significant piece, complete with its original signed wooden box and an authenticated temple Kaigen Shō (Eye-Opening Certificate).
The statue represents Dōtō Kannon (冬道観音), beautifully cast in bronze with flowing robes, a halo, and a serene expression. The craftsmanship reflects traditional early-Showa period temple art, with a solid, heavy feel and detailed contours throughout the figure and base.
The included certificate confirms the official consecration (開眼ツ証) of the statue on September 25, 1930 (Showa 5). It was issued and signed by OGIWARA Koreaki (荻原是彰), the chief priest of Shōju Chūon-ji Temple (松壽忠恩寺) in Iiyama, Shinano Province (信濃国飯山). Please see photo number 2
